March 2006: Forums closed due to abuse and the threat of legal action by a non-member. During the time the forum was live, several postings were made using an ID purporting to be from a young Southampton female who claimed to be the daughter of a lawyer. This was found by PUMA to be false and the female non-existent. Therefore in the interest of security the forums were suspended. This ID was also used by a legal firm representing the complainant. Exactly how the firm came to be in possession of the password for this account is still not clear to PUMA. 

After the connection between A: the user ID given to the lawyers, and B: the source of the messages on the board about which the individual was complaining, were conveyed to the lawyers, they stopped acting for the complainant.  Ongoing enquiries into whether or not offences have been committed under The Computer Misuse Act are expected to be concluded shortly.
